All Meta Data about a document such as the document number, document title, status or revisions can be stored in PIRS documents together with the respective documents (e.g. technical drawing, specifications, maps etc.). In addition and to prevent any loss of information during the various processes of a project, the original document e.g. a technical drawing can be attached to the each revision of the PIRS document.
Depending on the kind of document you would like to store within PIRS, you can choose the appropriate document type which is one of the value fields within the PIRS document header. The document types to choose from can be modified and extended by your PIRS Administrator. Following, the creation process of a PIRS document as well as the transmitting, commenting and revising of PIRS documents will be explained in detail.
